Antequera

Case Study: Creative Direction & Identity Design (Rejected by Client)
Roles: Creative Direction, Identity Design, Naming

Antequera is a fine dining restaurant located in downtown McMinneville,

and the heart of Oregon’s wine country.

This project was inspired in part by the extensive environmental collateral seen in world renowned experiential restaurants such as Dishoom in London and Edinburgh. The goal is to embrace local details, historical elements and create print and merchandise collateral that makes the restaurant’s clientele bring the experience home with them.

Featuring ingredients sourced by local regenerative agriculture farms, and wines produced by some of the leading natural wine producers in Oregon, the menu is seasonally influenced and consistently inspired by the region’s dynamic flavors and heartland values.

Owned by the Orocio family, the dishes served at Antequera are the loving mixture of their family’s Oxacan and Oregonian roots.

Further inspiration for the creative direction was derived from the rock formations known as “El Torcal de Antequera” in Spain. As Oaxaca is known as the heart of Mexico (culinarily speaking) and the region values the same commitment to family and nurturing community through food as is also found in the Antequera region of Spain, these nuanced references pull together a unique and memorable reference that also honors the culinary and familial craftsmanship found in Oregon’s wine country.
